Outdated Domestic Consumer Unit Upgrade

 

The images show upgrade progress of outdated domestic consumer unit dated 1978.

 

NJC Electrical replaced the unit for a modern and compliant unit in July 2015

The previous consumer unit had no RCD protection on circuits and only one socket circuit in the entire property!!!

After the upgrade and extra circuits added, RCBO's are used for added safety.

 

The customer now has the peace of mind that the installation is now compliant to the current standard of the IET wiring regulations BS 7671:2008 17th edition, tested and certified by a Part P, NIC approved Electrician.

Dangerous consumer unit installation rectified

 
These images show a dangerous domestic Consumer unit missing the front cover and spare way blanking plates found when conducting an Electrical Installation Condition Report  which could lead to fingers touching the live busbar.
 
Testing of the unit highlighted a fault with the RCD unit not operating within the required tripping time.
Parts of the installation were approx 10yrs old with obvious new circuits added  within the last
5 yrs no installation certificate was issued to the customer!!
 
Have you had work completed and no certificate issued???
 
The consumer unit was upgraded at the customers request using a split load Fire retardant metal clad consumer unit incorporating 2 RCD's protecting the whole installation.
 
 The customer now has the peace of mind that the installation is now compliant to the current standard of the IET wiring regulations BS 7671:2008 amd 3 2015 17th edition, tested and certified by a Part P, NIC approved Electrician.

 

Fuse-board past serviceable life

 
These images show a Fuse board which was replaced due to being past its serviceable life,
no RCD protection on any circuits which posed a safety risk to the customer especially as they have an electric shower!!!
 
The customer opted for a new metal clad Consumer unit which will be compliant to the new regulations which are mandatory from JANUARY 2016
 
Inspection and testing  the property highlighted that there was no bonding conductor to the Gas pipe this was rectified with minimal fuss and the installation is now compliant.
 
 
 The customer now has the peace of mind that the installation is now compliant to the current standard of the IET wiring regulations BS 7671:2008 amd 3 2015 17th edition, tested and certified by a Part P, NIC approved Electrician.
